Session I - What are the implications of the global economies risks for emerging and developing countries?


Dr. Daniel THORNILEY, President of DT Global Business Consulting, FormerVicepresident of The Economist Group

 

Dr. Daniel Thorniley is a leading authority on global emerging markets. He is the President of DT Global Business Consulting and former Senior Vice President of The Economist Group, a position he held for 19 years. He is Senior Consultant to over 200 companies in East-Central Europe, Russia, The Middle East and Africa. He delivers in-house briefings to the boards of major US and European companies.

 

Prof. Dr. Daniel DAIANU, Former Finance Minister of Romania, Former member of the European Parliament


Mr. Daniel Daianu is currently Professor of Economics at The School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest (SNSPA) and Chairman of The Romanian Economic Society (SOREC). Previously he was member of the European Parliament (2007-2009), co-author of the EP report on the reform of the regulation and supervision of financial markets and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Romanian Commercial Bank (BCR) (2005-2007). He served as Finance Minister in Romania (1997-1998), Deputy Finance Minister in 1992 and Chief Economist of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) (1992-1997). At various times, Mr. Daianu received different fellowships at the Russian Research Center (Harvard University), Woodrow Wilson Center (Washington DC), NATO Defense College (Rome), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Europe (OECD).

 

Marie-France RAYNAUD, Deputy Chief Economist, Country Risk and Economic Studies, Coface

 

Marie-France Raynaud started her activity at Coface in 2007, currently being the Deputy Chief Economist for Coface France. She graduated from Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan and Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (ScPo Paris). Marie-France was Member of the Cabinet of the French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Quai d'Orsay.

 

 

Dan PASCARIU, President, UniCredit Tiriac Bank

Dan Pascariu studied economics at The Bucharest Academy for Economic Studies in 1973, taking his degree at the Faculty for Foreign Trade. From 2005 to 2007 he led the integration process of HVB BANK Romania, Tiriac Bank and Unicredit Romania. Since 2007 Mr. Pascariu is the non-executive Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Unicredit Tiriac Bank. He was the first President of the Romanian Banker's Association (ARB), which he initiated in 1991, being one of the promoters of the banking reform in Romania. He was a cofounder and Associate Professor at the Romanian Banking Institute. He is currently also the Chairman of the Board of NEPI (a property fund quoted on AIM in London and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange) and a member of the Board of Shareholders Representatives of SIF Muntenia (a Romanian private equity fund, created following mass privatisation) and member of the Board of FABRYO Corporation, the largest producer of decorative paints and varnishes on the Romanian market.


Cristian IONESCU, Country Cluster Manager, Coface Romania, Bulgaria, Slovacia

Cristian Ionescu started his activity at Coface in 2003 and he has over 14 years experience in corporate management and business development. He is the founder and President of the Romanian Debt Collection Association, which gathers the most renowned players in receivables management services sector in Romania. Cristian is an INSEAD 2008 Executive MBA Alumnus, and holds a BA title in International Business as well as a Professional Management Diploma with OUBS. Recently, he committed himself to developing the EMBA Business Club for the INSEAD EMBA Alumni, for which he serves as President.

Andrei CIONCA, Managing Partner, Casa de Insolventa Transilvania

Andrei Cionca, founder of CITR, is a graduate of the University of Babes-Bolyai from Cluj, Faculty of Law. Due to his legal background, his competence as a board certified insolvency practitioner and experience in insolvency procedures, Andrei Cionca is the driving force behind all the scientific studies which CITR develops and promotes during field-oriented seminaries and conferences. In addition to the specific attributes of an associate coordinator (representation and management of the company), Andrei Cionca manages the relationship with the main participants in insolvency proceedings and coordinates scientific studies in which CITR is involved. He has been active in his profession for over 11 years, joined the UNPIR since 2005, member of INSOL Europe as well as UNBR and AOAR.

 

Dana PATRICHI, Managing Partner, Alexander Hughes Romania

Dana Patrichi is one of the most renowned Head Hunters, working in Romania since 1994. She is Managing Partner for Alexander Hughes Romania since 2002, after her experience within Alexander Hughes International from France. With over 20 years experience in HR and General Management, Dana Patrichi is the Administrator of the French Chamber of Commerce in Romania, as well as Advisor to the Foreign Trade in France. Mrs. Patrichi graduated from Paris Sorbonne University, has a Master in Human Resources Management from CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts & Métiers- Paris), and an Executive MBA from INSEAD.


Daniel BOAJE, General Manager, McDonald’s Romania

Daniel Boaje is the CEO of McDonald's Romania since March 2011. Executive MBA graduate of Asebus, Daniel Boaje has a solid experience in management and leadership in McDonald's, a company he worked for 10 years until 2004, and where he returned as Business Development Director in 2010. His career was consolidated in the financial sector between 2004-2010, when he was COO and then CEO of Cetelem IFN-BNP Paribas.

 


Sergiu NEGUT, Deputy CEO, Regina Maria- The Private Healthcare Network

Sergiu Negut has been the Deputy CEO of REGINA MARIA, The Private Healthcare Network for the last six years. During this period, Mr. Negut coordinated, together with CEO, a growing healthcare business and an expanding team of professionals, so that REGINA MARIA, The Private Healthcare Network is now the largest private medical network in Romania. Sergiu Negut has an extensive experience in general management, across different industries (healthcare, pharmaceuticals, commodities) and business development, including M&A and startups.

 

 

Tim SMITH, Managing Director, Marsh Trade Credit UK

Tim Smith is Marsh’s EMEA Trade Credit Practice Leader, based in London.  His responsibilities span the Marsh Trade Credit business across this geography, having the authority to mobile Marsh resources locally and globally to resolve any client or prospect servicing requirements. Tim has extensive experience in the trade credit insurance industry.  This spans twenty seven years, with more than twenty three years employment with Marsh Trade Credit.  Prior to this role, Tim led the UK and Irish business, and held the positions of European Sales Leader, Head of Office, Manchester and Head of Office, Birmingham.  Prior to joining Marsh, he spent four years with a competitor.
Tim is a member of the Institute of Exports and a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Management.

 


Session III- Round table with banks- Changing Currency. Redefining Economics


PhD Dan BUCSA, Chief Economist, UniCredit Tiriac Bank

Dan Bucsa holds a BA degree in finance and banking from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and a MSc degree from the Doctoral School of Finance and Banking (DOFIN). He defended his PhD thesis in 2010. The topic was economic growth and its interdependence with monetary policy. Dan Bucşa currently holds the position of Chief Economist at UniCredit Ţiriac Bank. He has previously been the Chief Economist of Bancpost, economist and head of division in the Macroeconomic Modelling and Forecasting Department of the National Bank of Romania, and assistant lecturer at AES Bucharest.




Florian LIBOCOR
, Chief Economist, BRD Groupe Societe Generale

Florian Libocor is the Chief Economist of the BRD – Group Societe Generale. He joined the Group in 2002. His work is focused on analyzing and forecasting market’s development and the overall macroeconomic equilibrium of the Romanian economy in the context of integration into the global financial system. He also acts in other various areas such as financial communication, institutional collaboration and network development. Before joining the BRD – Group Societe Generale, Florian LIBOCOR worked for Romania’s Finance Ministry. Mr. Libocor is a fonder member of the Romanian Association of Financial and Banking Analysts in Romania.



PhD Ionut DUMITRU
, Chief Economist, Raiffeisen Bank

Ionut Dumitru graduated from the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchange, has a degree in "Financial and monetary strategies and policies" in the Doctoral School of Finance Banks (DOFIN) and obtained his Ph.D. in economics from the Academy of Economic Bucharest, Finance domanin. Currently, Ionut Dumitru is a teacher at the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchange, the Currency Department of the Academy of Economic Studies, manage the Sectoral Economic Research Department of the Raiffeisen Bank and is President of the Association of Financial Analyst Banking in Romania.



PhD Nicolaie ALEXANDRU-CHIDESCIUC, CFA, Chief Economist, ING Bank

Nicolaie Alexandru-Chidesciuc holds a BA degree from the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges, the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and a MSc degree from the Doctoral School of Finace and Banking (DOFIN). In 2007 he defended his PhD thesis in International Finance- “Monetary and exchange rate policy considering EU integration” and since 2009 he is a CFA charterholder. Nicolaie Alexandru-Chidesciuc currently holds the position of Chief Economist at ING Bank and he has previously been economist in the Research/ Monetary Policy Department from the National Bank of Romania. He is now Lecturer for Master degree for both The Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and the Romanian-American University.

 


Sesiunea  IV – Round table with exporters- The directions of Romanian foreign trade. New markets, new opportunities?

 

Paul ICHIM, Vice-President, EximBank

Paul Ichim holds a BA degree from the Faculty of Finance, Insurance, Banking and Stock Exchanges, the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. He has over 10 years experience in banking and finance, both in regulatory institutions responsible for macroeconomic and financial policies in private banks. Paul Ichim has been Secretary of State within the Ministry of Finance between 2000-2001 and 2002-2004, and Adviser of the Minister of Finance in 2001-2002.  Starting with 2005, Paul Ichim acted as Director of the Financial Institutions and Custody, Director of Financial Institutions and Director of Corporate Division within ING Bank. Since 2009, Paul Ichim is Vice-President of Romanian Import/ Export Bank – EximBank.

 


Anca DOGARU, Factoring Division Director, BRD Group Societe Generale

Before joining BRD-GSG team in 2005, Anca was Head of Factoring for BCR-Erste Bank. With over 15 years experience in finance and banking, of which 11 years in factoring industry for two of the most important players of the market: BRD and BCR, Anca had responsibilities in both the commercial and operational area, as well as the risk sector. BRD-GSG is member of the Factors Chain International (FCI) - the largest factoring association worldwide and has held leading positions in the last five years in FCI top of the best import and export factors (3rd place in 2008, 6th place in 2010). Mrs. Dogaru is one of the board members for the Romanian Association of Factoring and she participated in several conferences as speaker on topics related to factoring.


Costin LIANU, Export Development Director, MECMA

Costin Lianu is the Export Development Director within the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Business Environment. He is the coordinator of the National Export Strategy for 2005-2009 and 2011-2015. Mr. Lianu is Doctor in economy and associated professor with both Spiru Haret University and Bucharest University; he developed various articles, books and case studies on export management strategies, branding strategies, international trade and marketing. He is also a member of ITC Geneva   export strategy network.



Mihai IONESCUPresident of ANEIR (Romanian Association of Exporters and Importers)

Mihai Ionescu holds a BA degree in foreign trade from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and a PhD degree from the Doctoral School of International Business and Economics (AES). Since 1995 he is the founder and the executive leader of ANEIR (Romanian Association of Exporters and Importers). Mr. Ionescu is also founder and co-President of the Romania’s Export Council, Member of CITHA (Confederation of International Trading Houses Associations) and founder and co-President of the Alliance for Economic Development in Romania.



Adrian DUMITRIU, CEO, Electroputere SA

Adrian Dumitriu graduated the Faculty of Economics from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies and has an EMBA within INDE - CNAM Paris. He began his career as an assistant within the Economic and Financial Analysis Department from AES. He is a member of ANEVAR (the National Association of Romanian Valuers) since 2003, specialized in enterprises valuation. Since 2008, Mr. Dumitriu is CEO of Electroputere SA, where he initiated and coordinated a comprehensive restructuring project of the company. He has over 11 years experience as CFO within 3 multinational corporations.
